Some members of the Pinellas Realtor Organization were proud to represent the association during their meeting with Congressman Charlie Crist in Washington DC earlier in May. The group, led by Brandi Gabbard and Paul Hendriks, passionately advocated for common sense federal policy to reduce barriers related to homeownership, a sustainable flood insurance program, equal access to the Internet, and strengthening anti-discrimination laws.
PRO member and Chair of NAR’s Insurance Committee, Brandi Gabbard, moderated the ‘National Flood Insurance Program: Ongoing Regulatory Reform Initiatives’ panel. The panel discussed how FEMA and other government agencies are working to modernize the NFIP to make it easier for REALTORS, Insurers and homebuyers to purchase homes that require flood insurance. The most important take away from the flood insurance conversation was that every homeowner should protect themselves with some level of flood insurance, even if it isn’t required.
